Day : 1 NJP/ SILIGURI/ IXB TO SITTONG
Meet and greet at NJP/ IXB/ Siliguri and start a journey towards Sittong. Sittong, a very newly added eco-friendly destination in Darjeeling tourism, gaining its popularity for its prolific orange orchard. Hide in a dense pine forest. This place also offers a splendid scenic beauty like any place in this region. Perched at an altitude of 4000ft of the Himalayan Mountain, Sittong is heaven for bird-lovers.
Orange Cultivation- Sittong area is very famous for its orange cultivation. In the winter months, the entire location turns orange with its orange gardens. Tourists find the orchards and their products highly attractive
Day : 2 SITTONG SIGHTSEEINGS & TRANSFER TO LAMAHATTA
After breakfast, proceed towards Lamahatta enroute covering Sittong sightseeing:
Ahaldara-Another viewpoint amidst the Chinocona plantation near Sittong presents a 360-degree view of Mount Kanchenjunga from its top.
Mungpoo, the cinchona village made famous by Rabindranath Tagore is just 8 km from Sittong. You can spend several days in the village and explore all the tourist destinations in and around from here. In the year 1864, the first Government Quinine factory was set up in Mungpoo and this is exactly the reason why Mungpoo is popular. However, what added to its popularity was when the Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore visited the place quite often between 1938 and 1940. Tagore used to stay at the residence of his protege, Maitreyi Devi who herself is a renowned poet and novelist. The bungalow was converted into Rabindra Bhavan. It is a museum containing Tagores photographs, paintings, writings and other of his memoirs. On visiting the place one can find Tagores belongings exactly where he had kept them, his tools. Artworks by the Nobel laureate cover up the walls. This bungalow is a must visit for the ones with a soft corner for aesthetics and literature. Also visit Jogi Ghat and Hanging Bridge. After sightseeing, proceed towards Lamahatta After sightseeings, proceed towards Lamahatta.
Lamahatta - Lamahatta added its name as a new destination of North Bengal offbeat tourism in recent years. Amidst the deep pine forest in Takdha Subdivision, Lamahatta gets its name from Lama- Buddhist Monk and Hatta- Hut means Monk Hermitage. It is located almost at an altitude of 7000 ft and facing towards the mighty Kanchenjunga at the forefront. Lamahatta enhanced its charming beauty recently as a beautiful garden surrounded by a Buddhist prayer flag and a wide range of orchids developed in the near past. ,
Post Lunch, visit Lamahatta Eco Park on foot.
Lamahatta Eco Park - This Roadside Garden is one of Lamahattas major attractions. It is surrounded by pine forests containing numerous seasonal flowers, as well as several rare and exotic species of orchids. Browsing through the beautiful array of flowers on display, visitors can also relax on the numerous benches while enjoying the views of Mt. Kanchenjunga. The watchtower is located at a strategic location that helps visitors to enjoy panoramic views of the juncture of Mt.Kanchenjunga, Sikkim Hills, River Teesta and the River Rangeet
Day : 3 LAMATTA SIGHTSEEINGS & TRANSFER TO CHATAKPUR
After breakfast, proceed towards Chatakpur, enroute covering
Tinchuley is a newly added tourist destination nestled amongst the eastern part of the Himalaya Mountain. It is a small mountain village (rather a hamlet) in Darjeeling district and located at an altitude of 5,800ft, and 3kms above Takdah. The word Tinchuley means Three Ovens (i.e., Tin Chullahs). Because of the three prominent hill tops surrounding the place and which from faraway look like ovens or chullahs. WWF, trying to develop a model organic village in Tinchuley. Check-in the hotel and have some rest. Later, visit some of the fascinating places of Tinchuley. Return to your resort after an adventurous day.
Takdah - Takdah Cantonment is a neighborhood in the Rangli Rangliot CD block in the Darjeeling Sadar subdivision of the Darjeeling district, West Bengal, India. It is one of the upcoming tourist centers of the Darjeeling hills. Takdah is located at an altitude of about 4,000 ft and close to Darjeeling (about 28kms away), yet far enough to be isolated, quiet and serene. Although the altitude is much lower than Darjeeling town, the place is cooler compared to its surrounding area.
Chatakpur is at a driving distance of 28 km from Lamahatta and takes about 1.5 hours to reach. Upon arrival at your pre-booked homestay, check-in and fresh yourself up. Later visit Chatakpur Viewpoint to witness the snow-covered Mount Kanchenjunga. Enclosed by lush green forest, one can do nothing at Chatakpur except enjoy the serenity of the place. Moreover, stroll around the village of Chatakpur to get friendly with the local bodies. Spend the evening listening to the cricket song.
Day : 4 CHATAKPUR TO NJP/ SILIGURI/ IXB DROP
After breakfast, proceed towards NJP with sweet North Bengal Memories.
